Hip Hop - Used to be so good... Positive K

This new rubric focuses on Hip Hip "classics" and was inspired by Hans Nieswandt's claim that Hip Hop used to be so good compared to nowadays - very true if you ask me!

Positive K - I Got A Man 1992

Darryl Gibson - better known as Positive K - scored a major hip-hop hit with "I Got a Man" from the album "The Skills Dat Pay Da Bills" released in 1992. The song peaked at #14 on the US Billboard Hot 100 in early 1993. Apart from the great - although for this time standard - beat, I just love the lyrics. "What's your man got to do with me? - I got a man! - I'm not trying to hear that, see!"

And again, I had to find a way around Malaysian youtube censorship - how annoying!

  1. I don't like this song - to call it a "classic" is blasphemy! :-P

  2. Pah! Nice try to provoke me! It's definately a classic, not only because of lyrics and beat, but have a look at the clothes in the video. These are as classy as it can be!

What's your definition of a hip hop classic?
